Description The Highgrove Series Ebonised Staunton Chess pieces are very detailed and superbly finished small chessmen in the classic Staunton design with a beautifully carved knight and bishop, a three inch king, and broad bases. 17¾” chessboard At almost 18 inches in width, this high gloss lacquered board is constructed using a considered selection of beautiful wooden veneers. The playing surface is fabricated from a combination of light Maple and Black Anegre wood veneer squares. The border and board edges feature exotic Palisander Rosewood which is a red-brown colour and features an almost magical depth of grain. This chess board has been expertly crafted by Rechapados Ferrer in Spain using precision laser cutting techniques and stunning wooden veneers combined with expert lacquering and finishing. The underside of the board is finished in a satin veneer that is a different colour from the playing surface of the board. The veneers used for the underside may vary in colour from batch to batch.
